Eleven Plus Tuition
You want your child to do well and get into the grammar school they have chosen. Why? Because you know if they’ll have more opportunities for a bright future, excelling in whatever path they choose in life. What parent doesn’t want that for their child?
But did you know your child will sit grammar school tests in September of Year 6 and many 11 Plus skills aren’t taught in school until well after the test dates? If your child hasn’t mastered all that the 11 Plus curriculum entails their exam success is not assured.
So I’ve create an Eleven Plus tuition pathway covering everything your child needs for 11 Plus success that isn’t taught in school. It’s packed with the knowledge they need to learn by heart along with the guidance of when to learn it, games to improve recall, printable resources and tutor support. Plus, our programme explicitly teach the skills and understanding your child needs in 50 minute online weekly classes.
As exam time approaches, our Eleven Plus tuition course supports your child with exam technique skills appropriate for their exam board, develops their speed skills, revises their tricky topics and offers stress management solutions for their big moment. Should your child require extra support, we offer extra one-to-one top-up sessions with our trained tutors.
I’d love to talk through all we have to offer with you, so do get in touch.

Is this right for my child?
We classed this pathway as ‘Challenging’.
This means that it is suitable for children in Year 4 and Year 5 who wish to sit the 11 Plus exam and are already ahead of most peers in their class.
The areas covered in our Eleven Plus Tuition pathway are taken from the GL, CEM and CSSE curriculums for grammar school entrance exams. Your child will be placed with a suitable peer group who will be studying for similar exam boards.
Our children tend to apply for grammar schools in Surrey (including Wallington, Sutton, Nonsuch, Tiffins) and grammar schools across Buckinghamshire, Birmingham and Essex.
When are the lessons?
Lessons are online via Zoom and take place weekly with breaks for holidays. Specifically, term times are:
2022 – 2023

The Application Process
Like many other children and parents, you’ll be starting your journey towards the Eleven Plus entrance exams with a tutor and hoping to do well enough to gain a place at grammar school.
But there are many different exam boards, each with their own test structure and curriculum. Without our application process, you could be placed in a wrong group that doesn’t deliver the knowledge YOU need to pass. That’s why when you apply to Next Steps Tutors for Eleven Plus Tuition, you and your child will be asked to attend an informal interview where we’ll explore your child’s aspirations, strengths and areas to develop, along with any schools you might be considering. If you’re not sure which schools or exam boards you need then we will be happy to support and guide you as part of your application process.
The interview is around 30-45 minutes and really is nothing scary! There’s no need to prepare in advance: we would like to meet you as you are everyday. That way we know we’ll place you in the ideal group to make optimal progress.
We’re committed to keeping your child safe online.

Getting Started With Group Tuition
If you don’t see the answer to our Frequently Asked Questions please ask!
Straight after you sign up with us, we will send you an email with the links you need to access our knowledge organiser packs, printable resources, links to our games and curriculum guides including a pre-curriculum booklet (for group tuition). We will also invite you to a dedicated Google Classroom where you’ll be able to access replay videos of your lessons and optional homework tasks and challenges.
Children can learn online from a tablet, laptop or desktop. We don’t recommend learning from a phone due to image size. The only software that your child will need to access is Zoom. If you are not familiar with Zoom we are happy to offer a complimentary 30 minute session to familiarise your child with the controls before your course starts. See our blog on tech for online learning to find the best resources for your budget.
All children learn at their own pace. Some will settle quickly and enthusiastically into their new style of learning whilst others might take some more time.
There really is no one-size-fits-all approach. If you are concerned about your child’s progress, your tutor is on hand to discuss their learning.
Whether you choose group or one to one tuition, your child will be allocated their own slot within the week. As a result, we ask that missed lessons are paid for. However, our group tuition recording will be available in their classroom. We will always do our best to find a suitable time for a catch-up session where possible.
Next Steps Tutors offers a tiered price for 11 Plus tuition, payable in advance of the term start date.
One subject: £900 per year, payable in three termly amounts of £300 (August, December, April).
Two subjects: £1650 per year, payable in three termly amounts of £550.
Three subjects: £2400 per year, payable in three termly amounts of £800.
We offer a no-quibbles cancelation within 14 days of payment, after which we ask for half a term’s notice should you wish to cancel.
