Children have to trust before they can learn. They have to trust that I want to understand them. They have to trust that I want to improve their knowledge and skills. They have to trust that I will keep them safe: to make mistakes; to voice their opinions and to be heard. Trust is built through relationships.

Through Next Steps I get a chance to level the playing field in education and give every child a chance to thrive no matter what their circumstances – and I really can’t think of a happier way to use my drive and energy.
