Secondary Group Tuition
You wouldn’t be alone if your child has had a dip in confidence and attainment over the last couple of years. So many children are feeling the strain and it’s impacting their mental health too.
Our secondary groups are designed to take each year group curriculum at a gentler pace, ensuring each topic is thoroughly mastered by your child along the way.
We work in small groups so children know they are not alone and can develop ideas together. As qualified teachers, we are highly skilled in asking targeted, layered questions to help your child build confidence and explore deeper into a topic.
As end of year or GCSE exams approach, we support your child with appropriate exam techniques, develop their speed skills, revise their tricky topics and offer stress management solutions for their big moment. Should your child require extra support, we offer extra one-to-one top-up sessions with our trained tutors.
If you think this could help your child please get in touch.

Our children on this pathway tend to be working at or below national average levels. We feel that it is most suited to those children who want to make rapid progress in their learning.

Starting in a Secondary Group
Before your child starts their group they’ll have a short one to one session with their tutor. It’s nothing scary!
We like to get to know a little about you and your family & school situation in an informal Zoom call. Knowing your aspirations, difficulties and interests can help us find exactly the right Booster Group for you and match you with like-minded learners.
The interview is around 30-45 minutes. There’s no need to prepare in advance: we would like to meet you as you are everyday. That way we know we’ll place you in the ideal group to make optimal progress.
We’re committed to keeping your child safe online.

Getting Started With One to One Tuition
If you don’t see the answer to our Frequently Asked Questions please ask!
Straight after you sign up with us, we will send you an email with the links you need to access our knowledge organiser packs, printable resources, links to our games and curriculum guides including a pre-curriculum booklet (for group tuition). We will also invite you to a dedicated Google Classroom where you’ll be able to access replay videos of your lessons and optional homework tasks and challenges.
Children can learn online from a tablet, laptop or desktop. We don’t recommend learning from a phone due to image size. The only software that your child will need to access is Zoom. If you are not familiar with Zoom we are happy to offer a complimentary 30 minute session to familiarise your child with the controls before your course starts. See our blog on tech for online learning to find the best resources for your budget.
All children learn at their own pace. Some will settle quickly and enthusiastically into their new style of learning whilst others might take some more time.
There really is no one-size-fits-all approach. If you are concerned about your child’s progress, your tutor is on hand to discuss their learning.
Whether you choose group or one to one tuition, your child will be allocated their own slot within the week. As a result, we ask that missed lessons are paid for. However, our group tuition recording will be available in their classroom. We will always do our best to find a suitable time for a catch-up session where possible.
Payment Terms
Next Steps Tutors charges £40 per 50 minute lesson, which includes a private Google classroom with lesson replay option and suitable homework tasks.
We ask for payments in 1 month installments, which will be invoiced to you in advance of the lesson block and should be paid at least 48 hours before your tuition session.
We are happy to make arrangements around family holidays when planned at least one month in advance.
We offer a no-quibbles cancelation within 14 days of payment, after which we ask for one month’s notice should you wish to cancel.
